We have Invited Dr Sascha Heussler to share his journey from project to being a start up .
ATTONICS Systems FT Spectrometers replace all scanning optics by a static spectrometer core and capture the spectral fingerprint in a single flash of light by measuring all signal points simultaneously. This offers unprecedented speed, even when detecting very short signatures. With up to 1600 spectra per second our spectrometers deliver the spectral characterisation and identification in split seconds and thus offer the fastest FT spectrometer solution in the market. In addition, our ‘solid architecture’ lacks any movable part and gives our devices a huge application advantage in terms of ruggedness, size,and portability. At the same time our devices require minimum maintenance.
As a result, ATTONICS SYSTEMS is able to provide new spectrometer solutions that are tailor-‐‑made to the growing needs of the customer.

Sascha Pierre Heussler joined the Singapore Synchrotron Light Source (SSLS) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) for his Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Herbert O. Moser in June 2004. In January 2005 his research work commenced under the NUS Research Scholarship program until his conferment in September 2010. In his Ph.D. work, Sascha successfully realized the first Multi-channel Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer (MC-FTIR) which has the capability to analyze an arbitrarily short, single pulse of radiation, a unique advantage the spectrometer holds over common FTIRs. His doctoral studies concentrated on the full development cycle, including its design, construction, assembly and the characterization of a pre-prototype spectrometer. Since January 2011, S.P. Heussler is appointed Research Fellow at SSLS continuing his research in the field of micro-optics. His work was awarded a Proof-of-Concept grant by the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF) in October 2009 and an innovation grant by the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) in March 2012 in which Sascha took on an active role as Co-Principal Investigator and as Principal Investigator, respectively. S.P. Heussler’s research focuses on the conceptualization and realization of micro optical components for novel detection schemes ranging from the visible to the far infrared. Currently, S.P. Heussler is preparing the formation of a university spin-off marketing the multi-channel spectrometer development.
